About PAPPN

The Pan Asia Pacific Phenomics Network

Our Mission

The Pan Asia Pacific Phenomics Network (PAPPN) aims to provide a platform for all relevant information about plant phenotyping in the Asia-Pacific region.

Our primary goal is to increase the visibility and impact of plant phenotyping and enable cooperation by fostering communication between stakeholders in academia, industry, government, and the general public.

We support transformative crop science by promoting:

  • Regional Cooperation: Joint research projects and facility sharing.
  • Data Standardization: Adopting FAIR data principles for multi-omics.
  • Capacity Building: Workshops and training for early-career researchers.

History & Launch

The Bogor Declaration (2025)

On November 18, 2025, researchers from across the Asia-Pacific region gathered at the APFITA 2025 conference in Bogor, Indonesia, to officially launch the PAPPN.

Jointly organized by the University of Tokyo (UTokyo), Nanjing Agricultural University (NAU), and IPB University, with support from APFITA, MLCAS, and the IPPN Science of Phenomics Working Group, the launch event highlighted the diversity of expertise shaping phenomics in the region.

"One key highlight was the strong contributions of early-career researchers. PAPPN is committed to supporting and empowering these emerging talents across the region."
